Dear friend
Greetings from India in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
Hope everything finds well and peace with you by God's grace. We remeber you in our prayers.
I was in Madhya Pradesh among tribals for past few days with some of our volunteers to supply nutritious food and medicines to malnourished children.
I am sorry, this was the reason I could not send you mission report last week.
I am unable to describe the situations which little suffer from starvation.
Madhya Pradesh has the largest number of malnourished children in India, with 80,000 cases of severe malnutrition. The mortality rate is 87 per 1,000 live births.. Over 55 percent of the children are born under weight. 47 percent children suffer from severe malnutrition in Madhya Pradesh. Minister of State for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha (Parliament).
According to the women and child welfare department, 1,026 cases of malnutrition were reported from various blocks in Barwani, from January to October 2006. In 2005 the figure was 1,652. Sendhwa and Thikri blocks are worst affected with 266 and 227 cases respectively.
If you ask Sita Devi about her child, her eyes well up with tears. A few months ago, her eight-month-old kid died in her arms. Although she managed to take her daughter from her impoverished Sagmal village to the Barwani District Hospital, it was too late.
'Still we tried our best,' said a senior doctor in the hospital, adding it was a case of severe malnutrition. 'But the child had stopped responding to medicines.'
The government and other agencies have launched many programmes. However, tribal areas remain largely untouched. The much-hyped Bal Sanjeevni Abhiyan scheme launched in the state has, many say, failed to ensure nutritional security to tribal children.
We face many struggles from different sides. One side Christian persecution from Hindu militants. Thousand upon thousands died or injured. Hundrds of churches and thousands of christian houses burned or destroyed. Another side, bomb blasts by Muslim terrorists. Third side Malnutrition of children. Fourth side our financial obstruction for the follow up services.
Once again thank you for your prayers and supports.
Kindly continue praying for us and support the services among children and persecuted christians. Now we concentrate only on these two subjects. For, it is soooooooooooooo important than anything else in India these days.
Yours in His Service
